The International Institute for Information Design (IIID), the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB) and the M S Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) bring their respective strengths to the conference: Information Design, Industrial Design, and field work for sustainable development using ICT applications.
IIID – International Institute for Information Design
IIID was founded to develop research and practice in optimizing information and information systems for knowledge transfer in everyday life, business, education and science. The main concern of the Institute is to contribute to a better understanding within the human community with respect to cultural and economic issues by means of improved visual and non-visual communication.
The aims of the IIID are to be achieved by interdisciplinary and international co-operation. Thus IIID has established worldwide links to renowned universities, research laboratories and design companies.

MSSRF – M S Swaminathan Research Foundation
The M S Swaminathan Research Foundation is a non-profit research organization and was established in 1988. All along the organisation has been developing and following a pro-nature, pro-poor, pro-women and pro-sustainable on-farm and non-farm livelihoods through appropriate ecotechnology and knowledge empowerment.
M S Swaminathan Research Foundation is carrying out research and development in six major thematic areas such as: Coastal Systems Research, Biodiversity, Biotechnology, Ecotechnology, Food Security and Information, Education and Communication.
Bridging the Digital and Gender Divides and Ensuring Inclusiveness in Access to ICT: Information, Education and Communication (IEC) is dealing with bridging the digital divide, gender divide and knowledge divide using different communication tools at different levels. Since 1992, MSSRF has been implementing the Village Resource Centres (VRCs) and Village Knowledge Centres (VKCs). VRCs and VKCs mainly provide need-based locale-specific, demand driven information content.
